When 98% is Good Enough!

I get asked a lot when or how do we know a migration has been successful.

I usually aim for 98% of mail for 98% of mailboxes.

If 98% of mailboxes move, and or 98% of messages migrate, this to me is a successful migration.

You may well do better than this, in a like-for-like source-target scenario, on-prem to cloud based Exchange 2010, there is no reason why you shouldn’t get 100% of your mail to migrate for 100% of your mailboxes, but this is probably the exception rather than the norm.
